WINTERIZING YOUR RV

There are many suggestions found on the internet that may not meet the operating guidelines of the park. The following information meets park guidelines. Please see the office if considering other types of preparation. Office approval is required. A final inspection of the site will be completed by Park staff.
SKIRTING:
Purpose: barrier to air flow. Blocks wind; protecting pipes and warms floors. Properly sealing all seams ensures the best protection.
Approved materials:
RIGID FOAM INSULATION BOARD - Tyvek, R-tech, or another brand
· Relatively easy to install
· Lightweight
· 4’ x 8’ sheets available at Home Depot or Lowe’s
· Silver side or non-printed side facing out toward the park. Printed side may not face the park
· Secure to RV with HVAC tape, a shiny thin metal tape used for furnace duct work. (NOT “Duct Tape”) Purchase tape for outdoor and freezing temperatures.
· Needs to be reinforced at the ground with sandbags, wooden garden stakes, cinder blocks etc. Rocksin the park may not be relocated for any reason.
Prepare for winter season gusting winds and secure skirting at the ground level.
VINYL SKIRTING - such as the material billboards are made of. Pre-used billboards can be purchased online, or pre-made skirting is available from: EZ Snap.com, rvskirting.com or others
· If buying a used product: solid side faces out toward the park. Printed side may not face the park
· See procedures above, under foam insulation board
HAY BALES ARE NOT ALLOWED. They attract vermin and are a fire hazard.
OTHER TYPES OF SKIRTING OR INSULATION MATERIAL must be approved by management.
Heat source to use under your RV skirting
In warmer climates a 100-watt light bulb can be a heat source but is NOT efficient in this climate. Use one thermostatically controlled space heaters with a built-in fan under the RV on a cement patio block for stability. In longer RVs, place a heater at each end, on a patio block, facing the opposite end. Turn the thermostat control to above the point of freezing. When the temperature dips down close to the freezing point, the heaters come on and blow warm air around the entire area underneath the RV. This is a very safe and efficient heat source. Space heaters are plugged directly into your RV. HEATERS MUST BE PLUGGED DIRECTLY INTO YOUR RV, NOT THE POWER POLE.
WATER
· You will need a heated water hose. We recommend a minimum -40˚f rating. Water hoses can be purchased on amazon. Available in 25ft & 50ft lengths. Only buy the length needed. Extra hose requires extra insulation.
· Foam pipe insulation to wrap the heated hose. Heated hoses will freeze if not protected from snow and ice.
· The campground water hydrant is heated and protected against freezing. The guest is responsible for protecting their heated hose from their connection to the spigot, to the RV/trailer.
SEWER LINE
We recommend supporting the line with rain gutter and covering it with an additional length of rain gutter. Wrap in insulation, cover with heavy plastic and tape securely.
POWER HOOKUP
30 Amp power
1 - 110 household service for heated hose hookup
§ Other heaters should be plugged directly into your RV
§ Keep faucets on a slow drip 24/7 to keep them from freezing. A sunny day can be very deceiving.
§ Faucets on a slow drip will protect you from freezing lines in your RV.
§ Approved 30-amp converter available on Amazon.
